Etretat... Je préfère évoquer Monet qui a tant peint ces paysages, Maupassant qui les hante encore, qu'Arsène Lupin qui s'est approprié l'aiguille creuse.
These wonderful limestone cliffs may be 120 m high from sea. Here in Etretat they are 85 m high. From them come the flint stones which become pebbles after staying in the waves and the limestone powder which give the very particular green colour of the sea. Remember: Etretat and these cliffs are in front of England, just the Channel between them !!!
The high and thin rock in front of the coast is "l'aiguille creuse" (hollow needle).
