There're a lot of castles in the Val d' Oise and on Saturday, we saw two of them. We drove to the demonstration " between campaign and garden " at the castle of la Roche Guyon ( the Rock Guyon).
On the road, we saw the castle of
Ambleville. Ambleville is far 31 kms from home.

The castle of la Roche Guyon was built in several stages. The keep takes advantage since the XIIth century of an exeptionnel site, a steep rock in chalk, an open view on the valley of the Seine. The castle was then transformed by François I and Henri IV, and at the end of the Second World War by the German Army which hollowed the cliff for munitions depot.

From the street, we perceive the yard of the castel and the exhibitors of the event " between campaign and garden " and also the old stable.

On the yards, you may find inusual plants. Parisians use to come there to buy some for their balconies, terraces or rarely gardens. From the yard of the castel, took a small glance on the surrounding houses. La Roche Guyon is far 42 kms from home.

  2. That's wonderful, thank you Cergie. I love the tower, it looks so ancient and I am sure it has seen many battles and important turning points in history. I love castles more than any other type of building!

  3. I love castles and their architecture. They are just awe inspiring and one always wonders what stories they could tell if they could only talk.

San Nakji, you may be also a middle-age knight's reincarnation.

Tim, let these old stones tell you wonderful stories.
